FFL Transfers

We do perform FFL transfers, and with current Virginia state requirements we can receive any firearm. There are no capacity or configuration limits for the state of Virginia. Keep in mind that any transfer to a person not living in the state of Virginia is subject to the restrictions of their state.

Fees

  • Current/Former Military/LEO: $20
  • All others: $25
  • Additional firearms per transfer: $5 each
  • Any NFA device (suppressors, short barrel rifles, short barrel shotguns): $75 per item

The Process

If you are using us to receive a firearm please purchase the firearm through the seller. Once the sale with them has been complete they should give you an order number, auction number, or other sales identification number. Additionally we need the email address of the seller as well. Please forward the order confirmation details to us using our contact form or our email address ffl@hallprecision.com :

Once we receive the information we will send our FFL to the seller and notify you via email that we have sent it out. Usually we send out our FFL within 24 hours of getting the email from you. If you do not receive a confirmation that we sent it out please contact us.

When we receive the firearm we will contact you to arrange pickup and performing the background check.

We currently are part of the following gun dealer networks that do not need anything on your part (besides submitting your order) to get the gun to us:

  • Aim Surplus
  • Bud’s Gun Shop
  • Palmetto State Armory
  • Sportsman’s Guide

Shipping out a firearm

We can also ship a firearm out of state to another FFL if you require it. The basic transfer fee still applies plus shipping fees. We only ship out using UPS to ensure safe and proper delivery and receipt of firearms. Additionally have a case for your firearm to be shipped as well to protect it during shipping. We will place it in a shipping rated box with some padding but a case protects it far better. Remember we will need to log the firearm in when you bring it in to be shipped out, so do not seal the container as we will need to physically inspect the firearm for the serial number, make, and model.

Reminder: Federal Law prevents the shipping of ammunition with a firearm! The ammunition must be shipped in a separate container.

Please have the contact information for the individual who will be picking it up at the end destination. The receiving FFL must have the following:

  • First and Last name of the person picking it up
  • at least one phone number to call them to arrange pickup
  • (optional) Some states require a bill of sale as there is a tax that must be paid on the transfer as well.
